Description - Description: The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency operates the environmental monitoring network (MARNET) in the North and Baltic Seas. It consists of nine automatically measuring stations that simultaneously record oceanographic and meteorolo gical data. The data can be used to describe the marine physical conditions from the sea surface to near the seabed and to evaluate them in connection with the local meteorological conditions.The areas of operation of the MARNET's stationary and mobile measuring systems are the German North Sea and Baltic Sea with water depths of 15m to 55m. The data obtained in MARNET is used, among other things, for the forecast services of the Federal Maritime
